In a bid to check overcharging by auto drivers, the Gurgaon Traffic Police on Wednesday evening launched a mobile application named Auto Fare Calculator. The app will help users calculate the fare on by entering the destination, informed Commissioner of Police Alok Mittal.
Talking to News 18, Gurgaon Commissioner of Police PRO Subhash Boken said that the app has been currently made operational for calculating the fare between Huda City Centre and MG Road metro stations. It will soon get activated in other parts of Gurgaon too, he said.
“Auto Fare Calculator is a fresh feature added to the already existing mobile application named Gurgaon Police,” Baken added. Asked if any auto driver still refuses to comply, Baken said, “In that case, the user should immediately file a complaint against the driver. Our database contains the verification details of around 52,000 auto and taxi drivers. A strict action will be taken against the driver.”
The app will be connected to the Facebook pages of Gurgaon Police and Gurgaon Traffic Police as well, informed police officials while launching the application.
To further tighten noose around errant auto drivers, the traffic police will soon launch another feature, through which the user can rate a driver on the app and file complaints of overcharging and harassment, informed Baken.
